The article discusses issues concerning U.S.-based publishing company Random House. It was reported that the company is to be dismantled and placed under the control of commercial paperback firm Ballantine Books. Also, Ann Godoff, head of the Random House Trade Group, has been fired by Bertelsmann's CEO Peter Olson because according to him, Random House was the only division to consistently fall short of their annual profitability targets. It mentions that Olson's statement was not to humiliate Godoff in addition to firing here but to warn everyone else at the company that this was the fate awaiting them if they did not meet their goals.
