The author criticizes the State of the Union address of U.S. President George W. Bush. Bush pledged that the government will not pass along the domestic problems to other Congresses, to other presidents and other generations. On the other hand, his second goals is high quality and affordable health care for all the people in the country. The author contends that the state of the union is precarious indeed, because in a time of great consequence, Bush's plans are a menace to the nation's security and its prospects.
