This article focuses on the political issues related to the United States. Having observed presidential candidate George Bush in the first debate, on September 25, 1986, some members of the punditocracy were moved to remark that he looked and sounded quite "presidential." To see a demonstration of the old maxim that the bigger a lie the better chance it has of success, a chronology of all the statements made by the Leader of the Free World about his dealings with Iran is provided in this article. On November 13, 1986, in his first admission of the trade, President Ronald Reagan said that the small amounts and modest deliveries of weapons could easily fit into a single cargo plane and were "defensive."
