The article features Kathleen Hanna of the punk/dance band Le Tigre. It discusses the political views and ideas of Hanna, including issues on violence, unequal pay and human rights. Hanna, a feminist in the indie-rock scene, formed the punk/dance band in 1999 with Johanna Fateman and Sadie Benning. She has worked with several bands, like Amy Carter, Viva Knieval and Bikini Kill, before forming Le Tigre. She has been using her music to express her awareness and views on experiences of oppression and unfairness of young women.
