The author analyzes the impact of the issue concerning child sexual exploitation by priests on the Catholic Church. Cardinal Bernard Law resigned from his position after evidence of his readiness to protect criminal priests in Boston, Massachusetts has been exposed. The author claims that the Boston crisis may affect the future of the Catholic Church. She believes that a growing number of Catholics in the U.S. have begun to articulate their faith in the terms they use to describe their citizenship because of the crisis.
