The article presents examples which illustrate the abundance of inventory at gun shops and gun shows and the laxity of gun-law enforcement in the U.S. A Venezuelan national and a U.S. citizen have placed an order for 150,000 rounds of AK-47 ammunition at a gun shop in Miami, Florida in July 2002. An Irish postal worker has uncovered a smuggling operation that involved guns mailed from the U.S. to members of the Irish Republican Army in July 1999. A smuggling operation has been ran by Colombia arms dealers out of Florida in the late 1990s that supplied weapons to members of the National Liberation Army.
