The article focuses on cases of domestic violence, including the murder of servicemen and their spouses, at Fort Bragg and other U.S. military bases across the country. Several cases of killings were reported involving military officers and their wives. Wives complained of difficulty in getting any help in dealing with a violent, homicidal husband. A Defense Department task force has been established by the Congress in 1999 after findings showed that the rate of domestic violence in the military had increased.
