The article presents information on two films. The film "The Truman Show" starring Jim Carrey, is the fable of a dupe, who doesn't realize his entire life is being broadcast on TV. His mother, wife and best friend are actors; the citizens of his town, merely extras. The film has been cleverly conceived by screenwriter Andrew Niccol and brilliantly realized by director Peter Weir. The filmmakers remind that the control booth crew get to watch the action, even though they hide it from the television audience. In conjunction with this year's Human Rights Watch International Film Festival, the Film Forum is presenting "The Farm: Angola, USA," a stunning documentary by Jonathan Stack and Liz Garbus, co-directed by Wilbert Rideau.
