The article focuses on the attitude of the press toward U.S. presidential candidate Al Gore. Al Gore has always been disliked by the press. Anti-Al Gore journalists such as Bill Keller, Katharine Seelye and Ceci Connolly among others are annoyed by his proclivity toward sanctimoniousness and his guts. Whenever he speaks, he is immediately assumed as cynical, tactical, self-serving, self-pitying and other negative descriptions. He is criticized for his view on war. "Washington Post" reporter Dana Milbank offers a mature explanation for the media coverage of Al Gore.
