The article focuses on the impact of fear on individuals in the U.S. It seems that fear and fear alone ties people nowadays. People tend to fear everything, from loss of freedom to the global warming to smallpox. The fear and edginess eats away individuals' capacity to reason and think rationally. Fear cause people to become more childlike, more intimidated and less able to deal straightforwardly with authorities and situations. Fear cause people to suffer from extreme stress from not knowing when the next blow will fall.
