The author comments on the Arab-Israeli conflict and the attacks of suicide bombers in Israel. She expresses discontent over the actions taken by the government of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon against Palestinians. She opposes to the policies of Sharon in Israel. She said the government seems bent on beating, bombing, demolishing, humiliating and starving the West Bank and Gaza into submission, while appropriating more land for the settlers. She believes that an open discussion regarding the conflict is needed in the U.S. She argues that the pro-peace or anti-Sharon position is poorly organized and weak.
