The article discusses the determination of Karl Rove, senior advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush, to appoint conservative activists to U.S. courts. Rove urges Texas Supreme Court Judge Priscilla Owen to be appointed to the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Rove is guiding Owen to her campaign, making her his pet judicial candidate. Rove is working to make Owen win in order to send a message to movement conservatives about the determination of the Administration to fill the courts with judicial activists that are willing to challenge antidiscrimination laws, protection for workers and consumers and build a judicial infrastructure that will overturn abortion rights.
