The article brings forth the significance of Robert Caro's new book, "Master of the Senate," volume three of "The Years of Lyndon Johnson" through which people come face to face with a realization that the newspapers, magazines, broadcast and cable newscasts are filled with comforting fictions. The true face of the money-driven political system in the U.S. is buried so far beneath the surface of public discourse that almost nobody has any incentive to uncover it. The real side of politics shown by Caro proves that even the very best newspapers have never learned how to handle public figures who lie with a straight face.
