The article focuses on two television programs for teenagers, "Dawson's Creek" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." "Dawson's Creek" is an extended reminiscence of adolescence by and primarily for people on the far side of the experience. According to the author, should any actual teens find this offensive, they are given the example of the character Dawson's own efforts as an aspiring filmmaker, a boy who theorizes that motion picture director Steven Spielberg movies hold answers to all of life's questions. In the television program Dawson is working on a remake of the film "Creature From the Black Lagoon," on video, taking care to overdub his friends' screams just right.
