The article discusses the book "Losing Matt Shepard: Life and Politics in the Aftermath of Anti-Gay Murder" by Beth Loffreda to impress upon the point of gay bashing in the politics of the U.S. and the violations of basic liberties of gay men and lesbians during their lives. Matthew Shepard, the protagonist of the story who stood for true American virtues was murdered and the entire drama took place to symbolizes the situation. The article ends on a optimistic note that for the initiatives taken by a few individuals, environment for gays men and lesbians is slowly but surely changing.
