This article focuses on the books "America's Forgotten Majority: Why the White Working Class Still Matters," by Ruy Teixeira and Joel Rogers and "The Working Class Majority: America's Best Kept Secret," by Michael Zweig. Each of the book very different in its concepts and details, lay a strong social-scientific foundation for bringing social class out of the closet and making it a permanent part of our public discourse. Teixeira and Joel Rogers's America's Forgotten Majority has been credited with convincing Al Gore last summer to adopt a populist campaign strategy built around working families and the mantra, "They're for the powerful, we're for the people."
