The article reports that BBC television viewers in London, England were excited by the network's 4 a.m. pronouncement that Barack Obama had been elected U.S. president. The network had covered the election campaign, including news about Virginia and Ohio swing voters, and the author states that the popularity of the subject for the British had pushed topics like the bank failure out of the news. BBC anchor David Dimbleby spoke with admiration about the healthy nature of U.S. political debate.
