The article reports that in January 2009, U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney will attempt to leave office with the personal records from his tenure, unless a lawsuit filed by the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) on September 8, 2008 prevents him. According to a 1978 law, U.S. presidents and vice-presidents must deposit their papers with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
