The article reports that police in St. Paul, Minnesota harassed independent media members before the 2008 U.S. Republican Party National Convention. Police raided hotels housing the news organizations I-Witness Video and Democracy Now!. Elizabeth Press of Democracy Now! was arrested and detained until co-members had her released. According to Associate Press reporters, the Republican Party purchased $10 million of insurance to cover the legal costs of any policemen accused of brutality.
