The article discusses the popularity, even amongst U.S. conservatives, of bashing the petroleum industry. Conservative media persons such as radio host Jerry Doyle are pointing out problems caused by Big Oil companies such as ExxonMobil Corp. and Shell Oil Co. The author discusses her book "The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism," and points out how U.S. government consultants such as Fadhil Chalabi do not even bother trying to deny that the Iraq war was intended to secure future oil supplies.
