This article focused on the Presidential Candidate Pat Buchanan. Pat Buchanan's Reform Party may not be the real Reform Party, according to leaders of the original Reform Party affiliate in Virginia state. But one part of the picture is clear: Buchanan has not been encountering much trouble in taking over the party that Ross Perot built and that then became a shell. In many states, the Buchanan forces have been able to grab the reins with ease. But in several, there have been nasty tussles--which partly reflect the mud wrestling that occurred within the party at the national level. Buchanan says no to permanent normal trading status for China, no to North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement, no to the WTO.
