This article presents the author's views on Vernon Jordan, a close consigliere of U.S. President William J. Clinton. The Times reported during the year 1996, a profile of Jordan, which raised some questions on Jordan's involvement with the President. In discussing the politically puissant law firm Akin Gump, in whose Washington office senior executive partner Jordan oversees a hundred lawyer/lobbyists, journalist Jeff Gerth noted that 80 percent of its revenue comes from the country's largest corporations, which have a broad interest in some of the very issues Jordan discusses with the President. Apple did not even bother to list the seventeen corporate directorships held by Jordan and his current wife, although Forbes in 1995 noted that they wield more power than any other couple in the corporate boardroom.
