The article focuses on the latest installment of Daniel Lazare's schedule for a socialist United States in the October "Harper's," under the title "Your Constitution Is Killing You--A Reconsideration of the Right to Bear Arms," where he invites people to face what he calls the obvious connection between 240 million guns and "the increase of violence." He regards anyone who demurs as a person "determined to avoid" the "facts." Proof of this supposed increase in violence is the emergence of "crazed day traders and resentful adolescents moving down large numbers of their fellow citizens every few weeks."
