The article discusses various political issues related to the U.S. Americans may sometimes be ignorant about politics, but rarely are they stupid. In the first place, while most people tend to be polite to pollsters when asked about their opinions, they also tend not to have opinions about elections that are still some 500 days away. More than two out of three people questioned told pollsters they are paying no attention to the 2000 presidential election at this point, while only one in ten professes to be following these stories "very closely."
