The article looks at the issue of pollution and the garbage industry in the United States. The author discusses the idea that the recent onslaught of violent hurricanes have been caused by global warming and the environmental conditions leading to the global warming was influenced in part by the massive landfills where garbage is stored. Details related to the affect of methane gases released by garbage are discussed. It is the author's view that the garbage industry has undergone intense corporatization over the past several decades, fostering a system that is reliant on ever greater levels of wasting, regardless of the environmental toll.
