The article presents an editorial discussing recent events involving the administration of U.S. President George W. Bush, with particular focus on the issue of Social Security. It is the author's view that Bush's plan to privatize Social Security, the centerpiece of his second-term agenda, is dead. The author reviews how conservative pundit William Kristol has claimed that the negative effect of the defeat of Bush's Social Security campaign has been underrated. The Democratic maneuvering related to the issue of Social Security is reviewed.
