The article looks at a perceived downfall of U.S. President George W. Bush and his connection to the mass media. The article suggests that the scandals surrounding Bush have led voters to push for political change. There is a lack of trust in regards to the mass media, so citizens are looking to non-traditional media sources for information. The article references the book "The Literary Underground of the Old Regime," by Robert Darnton. Reporter Judith Miller, who went to jail to conceal her source of information, is portrayed as too close to Lewis Libby, her source and the chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney.
