The article discusses how liberals in the United States can compete with the right-wing media to gain voters in future elections. The author criticizes Democrat academics Elaine Kamarck and William Galston for suggesting that Democrats support more conservative policy proposals. It is suggested that liberals find a way to build trust among voters by appealing to voters' values and self-interest. Democratic Senator Barack Obama is praised for his Weblog supporting respectful discourse that will lead to a workable progressive majority.
