The article looks at whether Syria was behind the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. It is reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was shocked with the news of Hariri's death. United Nations prosecutor Detlev Mehlis suspects Bashar al-Assad's brother Maher and his brother-in-law Asef Shawkat of involvement in the assassination. It is suggested that Bashar al-Assad was not involved in the assassination. Basher al-Assad is pushing for political change in Syria.
