Presents the authors view's on the issue of gay marriage in the United States. Suggestion that conservatives moved swiftly and decisively to capitalize on a "values mandate" following the 2004 U.S. Presidential election; Review of how fourteen gay marriage amendments aiming to ban the practice could take effect in the next year or so; Suggestion that bans on gay marriage may only be the start of a conservative effort to restrict sex education, expand federally funded marriage-promotion initiatives and introduce legislation restricting divorce.
