This article discusses the book "The Coming Struggle for Peace," by André Visson. This is claimed to be "a book for diplomats, and in the years ahead every free man and woman on earth will be called upon to learn the laws and assume the responsibilities of diplomacy. Guiding principles do count, else people will "muddle through somehow" into a third world war. The description of morbid symptoms, per se, will not lead to a diagnosis and a cure. "Responsibilities": a durable peace will not depend on a purely empirical patching up between local factions, say Chetniks, Ustashi, and Partisans. It will depend on the solution of two great problems, each of which demands an act of will, that is to say, an act of faith.
