The article focuses on several developments related to politics and society in the U.S. One of them is the need of introducing reform processes during presidential election to prevent misuse of power by the electioneering candidate. These reforms include getting money out of politics as well as passing voting reforms such as instant runoff and proportional representation, and, in the longer term, abolishing the Electoral College. The article urges the Democratic Party of United States to extend its support to Bush administration in their effort to introduce reform that would enable voters' basic right to choose their own leader.
