The article presents a discussion on the recent political developments around the world. U.S. President George W. Bush's energy plan fudges the facts, raises false alarms, shamelessly peddles halfhearted green measures, all to provide a cover under which to slide the oil industry's wish list. With their film and television contracts expiring back to back, the supposedly militant leadership of the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild spoke of ushering in a new era of pay equity, while producers, the networks and studios braced for a historic strike. The AFL-CIO is ready to advise and support the Hollywood unions in their looming titanic confrontation with the entertainment giants. The political condition in Nigeria under President Olusegun Obasanjo has been termed as "democracy without dividends." Obasanjo, who portrayed himself as a political messiah, has so far failed to redeem his promises to Nigerians of a better life.
