The article focuses on prevailing political conditions in the U.S. and around the world, as of February 19, 2001. Political cross-dressing by the Democrats ended on January 25, 2001 in Washington D.C. when their erstwhile conservative patron Alan Greenspan, abruptly jilted them. Among Palestinians in the occupied territories, the prospect that political leader Ariel Sharon will be Israel's next prime minister is met with a shrug of the shoulders. The indifference is not from ignorance. Palestinians know well Sharon's history. They have always been the victims of it.
