The article discusses matters related to social and political issues of the world. It states that the U.S. Census Bureau reported in mid-June the widest gap between rich and poor in this country since the end of World War II. The devastating local consequences of economic liberalization occupied center stage in the recent elections in India and Russia. Globalization is the central political phenomenon of the day, generating new and fundamental inequities as regions and nations compete for corporate investment, lowering wage, environmental and human rights standards. The article also reports on the U.S. Democrats' Families First Agenda. details. The agenda says that Democrats will "require" insurance companies to offer kids-only health plans.
