The article presents information about various events taking place in the month of February 1997. The month long Internet protest against last year's passage of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 was on February 8, 1997. Two Internet public advocacy groups have teamed up to offer an Internet protest site at www.cep.org/protest.html where visitors may find current information on the Telecommunications Act. Nobel Peace Laureate José Ramos Horta will present public lecture and discussion on universal human rights, national self-determination and the East Timor struggle on February 20, 1997 Swayduck Auditorium in Manhattan.
