This article presents information on the book "A Short History of Science," by W.T. Sedgwick and H.W. Tyler. It is a good sign when that courses on the general history of science are being introduced in an increasing number of U.S. colleges and that textbooks for their teaching are being published. Of these, the present one by Sedgwick and Tyler is easily the best in the country. It is accurate and well written. The student who uses it in connection with an adequate course of lectures should have a comprehensive knowledge of the growth of the various sciences and a fair idea of their mutual relations.
