The article presents information related to several books and publishers. Harper & Bros. publish immediately "John of Barneveld" and "Heart of Africa." Lee & Shepard have in preparation for the fall school-term a "Young Folks' History of the United States," by T.W. Higginson, which is expected to make a volume of 300 pages, with illustrations and maps. "Japanese and English Dictionary," of which two editions printed in Shanghai in 1867 and 1872 have been exhausted, is the most important of the lexicographical helps to the study of the language which have been published since the reopening of Japan.
