The article gives information about various political and business issues related to different parts of the world. A 1968 U.N. Security Council resolution allows nuclear powers to extend protection to any nonnuclear state that signs the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (N.P.T). U.S. President Bill Clinton's administration could convince Pakistan to sign the N.P.T. with the resolution as guarantee. The U.N. could also direct a substantial peacekeeping force to Kashmir, keeping a lid on each side's fears of cross-border incursions. The era that began with the release of the first International Business Machines Corps. personal computer came to an end on May 18 with the filing of the government anti-trust lawsuit against Microsoft Corp.
