The article discusses circumstances surrounding the death of Yves Volel, the Haitian presidential candidate. He was murdered by plain clothesmen in front of police headquarters. He talked about practicing "discipline" so that if the forces captured him, he would not crack under torture. When he went to the Port-au-Prince, Haiti police headquarters, he was seeking to represent a political prisoner who had been arrested without a warrant. According to the government, he brandished a revolver and attempted to storm the prison. The authorities released a picture of Volel lying in a pool of blood.
