The article focuses on a weeklong nationwide protest, planned by activists, to demand an end to the sanctions and to raise awareness of the effects of the U.S. bombs and policies on civilian Iraqis. Members of Chicago-based Voices in the Wilderness are defying the blockade and facing federal fines for traveling to Iraq to deliver relief supplies personally. The letter, signed by hundreds of individuals and organizations, calls for an end to the sanctions and will appear in the newspaper New York Times in late April.
