The article focuses on world politics. The war of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is turning out to be a disaster. After vociferous denials, NATO commanders confirmed claims by Serbian authorities and Kosovar refugees that the alliance bombed two refugee convoys. NATO's air war hits the Serbian population, with whom it says it has no quarrel. For years U.S. policy-makers have understood that baseball diplomacy could pitch bilateral ties. U.S. officials have faced down intense behind-the-scenes pressure from the anti-Castro contingent on Capitol Hill and in Miami. Even the Cuban regime's recent crackdown on dissidents, which bolstered the arguments of those who opposed the games, has failed to derail the sports diplomacy.
