The article comments on political and social developments in the U.S. Alone among presidential candidates, Bill Bradley is talking about police brutality not as an aberration but a fact of life for many in the black U.S. Following the fatal shooting of an unarmed African immigrant by the New York City police, Bradley explained that the reason the event ignited immediate outrage in the black community is that it was only, an extreme example of the targeting that most African-Americans have experienced with the police at some time in their lives. Race is not the only area where Bradley has been showing promise as a force for tolerance and healing. He has spoken up for the rights of gay Americans as well, including the right to serve openly in the military.
