The article presents information on political developments in France at the eve of the revolution. Political leader M. Thiers has adopted the plan of a convention for the presidential nomination. He would have all the deputies, all the senators, and three delegates for each General Council of France meet together on equal terms, and have a session of eight days, during which they would name the President. This assembly would have as many as a thousand members, which would give some hard. work to the wire-pullers; it would represent the people through the Lower Chamber, the administrative bodies through the Upper Chamber, and the provincial influences through the General Councilors.
