The article presents information related to books and publishers. A catalogue of catalogues will be a very welcome book to booksellers and librarians as well its to persons who are hunting for the title of some particular book or edition. Julius Petzholdt, the librarian of the Royal Library at Dresden, and the editor of the well known "Anzeiger für Literatur der bibiothekwissenschaft," has prepared such a book. There are two serial contributions to English magazines now being published which deserve notice and repay perusal, though very different in character. Walter Bagehot's series of articles in the "Fortnightly Review" on the English constitution contain the best and clearest exposition of the actual workings of the English government that has ever been written. Without paying much attention to the origin and theoretical uses of the different parts of the government, he explains intelligibly their present real functions.
