The article presents information on a "Report on Education," by John W. Hoyt from the State Agricultural College of Michigan. It is a closely printed volume of four hundred pages and is a general compendium on the subject of European and education in the United States. The report is divided into five sections, the first of which is a rapid review of the present condition of the various civilized countries in respect to public instruction. The spirit which has animated the author of this volume is so obviously on the side of liberal, superior and comprehensive systems of training and he has taken so much pains to bring together a vast array of facts, that one is reluctant to express.
