The article comments that true, honest, civilized, moral education is the one thing needed in France. French notion of patriotism is to hide whatsoever is unpleasant and to admit nothing that is disparaging and to cling to the belief that what is hidden may manage never to be known. All this denotes a defective education, an education from which the untruthful element is never expunged. Depend upon it, that whatever happens, France must, if she is to hold her proper rank among nations, she must, for the next ten or fifteen years, reform her system of education, root and branch. She must learn certain elementary principles and above all, female education must be absolutely turned topsy-turvy, for women are the men-maker, mothers of men.
