The Arrangement of Great Exhibitions

The article presents the views of H. Schwarz, professor of chemical technology in Styria, on the rules and principles which should govern the subdivision of space and grouping of objects at exhibitions. He remarks that practice of subdividing space according to nationalities should be abandoned altogether. The progress has been hitherto from municipal to provincial, from provincial to national, from national to international exhibitions. Schwarz's method of arrangement needs fuller explanation. The centre or core of the circle is to be assigned to the department of education, because this is the basis and starting-point of all man's power over the material world.
