The article presents information on fine arts with special reference to the Montpensier Gallery. The Montpensier Gallery is a great disappointment to the art lovers and the ignorant alike. A considerable part of the disappointment comes from the fact that very few persons in the community know what ought to be expected from any collection of Spanish pictures; know, anything about the character of Spanish painting, its relation to Italian art, its intrinsic worth or worthlessness. The knowledge of the general characteristics of Spanish art have been confide to a limited number of amateurs and travellers.
