The article comments on news briefs related to trade and finance in the U.S. Reports from the interior indicate that in all the Western cities there is an unusually large amount of currency in the different banks and moneyed institutions. This is especially true with regard to Chicago and Cincinnati. One of the most serious drawbacks felt during the past week was the difficulty of getting remittances from Boston, Philadelphia, and other cities. The New York banks are obliged to refuse taking and crediting up drafts or checks on other points, as the out-of-town banks have notified them of the impossibility of their making any returns whatever for the present.
